National Book Week Theme for 2010

This year's National Book Week Celebration Theme is:

Forum on Storytelling and General Assembly, September 18, 2010

In celebration of its 4th year anniversary, the Librarians Association of Quezon Province-Lucena, Inc. (LAQueP-LInc) is sponsoring a forum on "Storytelling: A Tool for Library Marketing" and a General Assembly to be held on September 18, 2010 at the University Library, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Lucena City.

The forum aims to develop an appreciation of the importance of traditional, indigenous and contemporary stories as sources of educational themes in library setting; develop skills in locating stories tItalico use in teaching and integrating them constructively into teaching units; and use strategies to generate and develop ideas for speaking, writing and visual activities inside the library; and to market the library thru storytelling.

The forum fees are as follows: Php 500 for members and Php 600 for non-members to include snacks and lunch.

LAQueP-LInc members attend PASLI in Bohol

Philippine Association of School Librarians, Inc. (PASLI) sponsored a three – day national –seminar workshop on “Current Trends and Global Preparedness for School Administrators and Librarians” held at Bohol Plaza Hotel, Tagbilaran City on April 21 – 23, 2010.

The seminar- workshop started with an opening prayer by Jhonalyn Tomas, Auditor of PASLI and opening remarks by Procerfina Laman, President of PASLI. Honorable Luciano A. Bongalos, Mayor of Dawis, Tagbilaran City welcomed all the participants and Dr. Recaredo G. Borgonia, Regional Director 7, DepEd delivered keynote speech. On the other hand, Mr. Marion Jude Gorospe, Vice – President of PASLI gave the mechanics and simple orientation of the seminar- workshop for the smooth flow of the said seminar.



The first resource speaker was Dr. Lorna E. Rances, CESO IV, Schools Division Superintendent of Bohol. She discussed “Professionalism in the Global Workplace for Administrators and Librarians. On the afternoon session, Prof. Regina Maligad from University of San Agustin, Iloilo City. She discussed “Disaster Preparedness/Care and Maintenance of Print Materials”. The third resource speaker was Mr. Gerry O. Laroza, Systems Administrator of Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila University. He discussed his developed library system, the Infolib. He also gave some information about the features and use of Infolib, and how it was developed.

On the second day of the national – seminar was an Eco- Country Educational Tour in Bohol. The Eco-Country tour includes Blood Compact Shrine, Local Industries like Bolo Making and Nipa Weaving, Tarsier (Tarsius Syrichta), Man- Made Mahogany Forest, Chocolate Hills, River Cruise at Loboc River, and Baclayon Church and Museum. After the Eco- Country Educational Tour, the national-seminar workshop resume at 6:00 in the evening. Prof. Rosalie Faderon, of University of the Philippines, School of Library and Information Studies was the resource speaker in the second day of the seminar. She discussed “Seminar- Workshop on Innovations in Classification & Cataloguing.
